We've included the web site for the Port Ludlow Yacht Club (www.plyc.us) even though technically Artemis Computing does not do all the maintenance for this site, because it is a good example of a site that is maintained by nontechnical users via Adobe's Contribute product (a content management product). We do some maintenance and serve as the Contribute administrator, but the routine changes are performed by a club member.

There were numerous design criteria for this site. It needs to function well on a wide variety of browsers. Although everyone in the yacht club might be able to have a new computer if they wanted to, the priority for most of them is boating, and many of them might not even have a computer if they didn't want to share email with their grandkids. Additionally, it needs to be easy to use, both in the context of using reasonably sized type (i.e., no teeny tiny letters) and with with straight-forward navigation, so that a computer novice can easily find cruising sign up form, or the PHRF race results. The target audience is potential members as well as club members and members of other yacht clubs, so the site needs to contain a lot of boating photos as well as information about club activities. A specific request was that the site be stunning visually. Additionally, the coding had to be set up to facilitate easy editing with Contribute. All the page content is in one central area so that it is easy to get to, and almost all the page formatting is controlled by a style sheet for forward compatibility and flexibility.
