The Port Ludlow Info web site (port-ludlow.info) is a well-organized source of reliable, noncommercial, non-biased general and historic information about Port Ludlow, Washington. It is a fairly large site with a great deal of depth, particularly in the recreational sections. It is also a resource for homeowners and realtors who wish to showcase their Port Ludlow property for sale on a web site which does not dictate cookie-cutter pages about real estate. Since the site is custom designed, the page(s) devoted to any particular piece of property can be simple or elaborate, and can be designed to show off the best features of that particular property.
The site design is flexible, as are most sites designed by Diane Allen and Artemis Computing. By "flexible", we mean that the page expands and contracts to fit the site of the monitor that is displaying it. It looks great on both small and large monitors.
There are four main sections on the site: Homes for sale, About Port Ludlow, Port Ludlow Professionals, and Relocating to Port Ludlow. The About Port Ludlow section is quite large and includes sections on Climate, History, and Recreation. The Recreation section also includes subsections devoted to Boating and Trails, which are very popular activities in Port Ludlow. The navigation on the left side of the screen (the links that are in various shades of yellow), expands and contracts so that when the viewer is in a section, as many applicable pages as possible are visible on the user's screen without the user having to scroll down the page. There are visual clues for which sections have more depth, such as plus marks on the navigation menu.
The site is full of beautiful photos of Port Ludlow, yet the pages load fast. The Port Ludlow Marina page has some particularly nice photos, as does the page on the Port Ludlow Golf course. An extensive list of birds that can be seen in and around Port Ludlow is also available.
Another interesting aspect of this site is the fact that you can use any of eleven different names to reach the site, so that people with various types of homes can use a web address that matches their home, and to make it easy for potential buyers to find the information on their property if the potential buyer has an idea of what their web address is but doesn't remember the whole thing. For example, people with custom homes can use portludlowcustomhome.com or portludlowcustomhomes.com, or port-ludlow-custom-home.com or port-ludlow-custom-homes.com. In general, people like web site names that are all run together, but search engines can't tell the individual words apart that way, so the site names without hyphens are designed to appeal to people and the site names with hyphens are designed to appeal to search engines.
Previously this site went by any of fifteen different names (instead of just 11). One of our clients liked this concept so much that they have licensed four of our names from us and formed a custom home building business called Port Ludlow Custom Homes. So we moved those four names to a separate site and are in the process of differentiating it for them. Also see: Port Ludlow Custom Homes.
