Pegasus AeroMarine (pegasusaeromarine.com) is a web site for Dan and Linda Newland's light aircraft insulation business and marine composite consulting and custom manufacturing business. These are highly technical product lines, and one of the challenges of designing this site was to present the information in an organized manner that is easy to follow by potential clients. A secondary challenge was making the site visually attractive in ways that enhance communication on the product line, and which don't bog down the user so that the pages still load quickly.

As with many of the sites that we do, you can reach it with more than one url: pegasusaeromarine.com and pegasus-aeromarine.com both take you to the same place. This makes the site address appeal to both people and to search engines (because people like the words run together but search engines usually don't). This is also insurance against a competing business or a speculator registering either version.

The Pegasus Aeromarine site required a lot of prep work by the owner before we could start because it was a new business at the time the site was launched. Content preparation is always a challenge for small business owners, and this site was no exception. Dan worked up an intial outline for the site, which we both modified after discussing the purpose of the site, and then he started generating content based upon the outline. He took the photos and did most of his own technical writing, with some guidance from us. We did the organization, page layout and formatting, and some editing while processing his content and creating the web pages. The owners are highly technical, brilliant engineers, and one of our jobs was to present the information in a way that someone that wasn't as familiar with the area of light aircraft acoustics would understand. The page that advertises the acoustic insulation systems for the RV-10 homebuilt aircraft is a good example.

One of the ways that you can get your site noticed and get a good page ranking naturally (ie without buying advertising) if your business is in an area with a lot of sites that compete indirectly as well as directly, is to provide free public information on your web site which explains your product. This has the effect of reinforcing your key words, encouraging other sites to link to your site, and is great customer service. This was one of our strategies in designing the Kit Aircraft Acoustic Educational Information section on the Pegasus AeroMarine. The information is very interesting; check it out - you'll enjoy it.
