What About A Logo? One of our first questions will be whether you have a logo. If you don't, and your site is for a business or organization, you really should. If you have a logo, ideally we'd like to have it in the form of a high quality JPG or TIFF or PSP file. If you don't have a disk with your logo on it and you've been using a professional printer, they probably do. Otherwise we'll need to scan the logo and probably do some cleanup. We do some minor graphics work in-house to facilitate turnaround time; we also like working with graphic artists and can make recommendations. When creating a new web site, one of the first considerations in defining the way it looks is compatibility with your logo. Sometimes we use colors from the logo, sometimes they are just complimentary, and sometimes they deliberately contrast such as blue against orange. Often your logo also tells us what type to use for the company name. If you decide to create or change your logo, the work should be coordinated with site design; ideally completed before starting on any prototype pages. If you don't have and don't need a logo, ok. Often it's not enough to define your style anyhow under those circumstances. If you have other marketing material, such as a brochure, that is sometimes even better. We also ask you to consider giving us an 'inspiration piece', perhaps a favorite photo, painting, or poster which captures a color scheme or mood, such as you might give a decorator before designing a new office, home, or garden.
