What are these 'blocked content' messages that I'm seeing or hearing about now? This FAQ is just for Internet Explorer users. People using Firefox, Opera, Netscape, and other browsers do not experience this. Depending on how your "computer" is configured, Internet Explorer can generate pesky messages about "blocked" content. This could be due to many things on other web sites, perhaps even something nasty, so we advocate that you take security warnings seriously, determine their cause, find and fix any "holes". However, I.E. can be a little enthusiastic, much like an overprotective mother who is also afraid of a lawsuit, although I'm sure they're not. For example, the little javascript 'date-stamp' on the bottom of many web pages (including on some sites created by artemis) can trigger that warning. In the case of this site, the little color block rollovers (which change the background color are also blocked by Internet Explorer even if your security settings are set to be pretty liberal. Also in the case of this site, you may ignore/do nothing when you receive one of the "blocked content" warnings unless you want to see the date of the last upload for a page, or you want to play with the color block rollovers (which are kinda fun), or use the color tool listed on the FAQ about getting started. Otherwise you'll need to click on the message and unblock the content. |
